Gulf Coast Shrooms

Genus: Psilocybe

About Gulf Coast

The term Gulf Coast cubensis typically refers to a wild variety of cubensis that thrives in the coastal regions of states like Texas, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. Spores from one state can easily be transported to another by birds, farm animals, hurricanes, and more.

These mushrooms adapt to the different growing conditions along the coast and establish themselves in the warm, humid environments near ocean islands. From what we’ve gathered, many people report being quite pleased with these Gulf Coast strains, as they tend to colonize quickly and offer above-average potency.

However, we often hear that while some find it challenging to get them to pin and fruit, other Gulf Coast strains tend to fruit more readily. Given the numerous options from coastal states in the U.S., we chose to focus on one particular strain that a good friend of ours has cultivated repeatedly with remarkable results.
